What Can You Expect from CoolSculpting?

September 21, 2018

People are often so busy these days that we don’t have the time or energy to exercise or to prepare nutritious meals for ourselves and our families. Many people live relatively active lifestyles but are still unable to drop the unwanted weight or shrink the waistline.

CoolSculpting® is an ideal treatment if you’re looking to remove unwanted fatty tissue without the use of invasive needles or surgery. Without incisions or stitches, this innovative procedure freezes fat cells and helps sculpt your body down to a smaller size.

It is FDA-cleared and eliminates fat. Speak to your physician to determine whether CoolSculpting is a beneficial option for you.

If you’d like to find out more about CoolSculpting, it may help your final decision to know exactly what you can expect before, during, and after a standard CoolSculpting procedure.

Preparing for CoolSculpting

In a one-on-one consultation, you’ll meet with a clinician to review the procedure in detail, discuss your body-shaping goals, and talk about the areas the CoolSculpting procedure will concentrate on. Everyone’s body is unique to their own ethnic background, medical history, and physical fitness.

The clinician will tailor a plan to your unique needs and desired results. For some people, more than one treatment may be necessary for the desired look.

Some areas of the body have fat cells that are more stubborn than others. Your clinician will discuss the number of treatments they recommend for the focused areas. You may also want to bring a book or a magazine to keep yourself entertained during the procedure!

During the CoolSculpting Procedure

During your treatment, the clinician will apply a gel pad and applicator to the targeted area. Controlled cooling is then transmitted to the fat cells through the CoolSculpting applicator. Treatments can take anywhere from 35 to 60 minutes for each area being treated.

Sit back, relax, and feel free to read that book or magazine, catch up on your emails, or take a snooze while those fat cells freeze away.

The CoolSculpting treatment is not reported to be painful, though it is a little cold! You may feel an intense chill initially, but this will subside to a numbness after 5 to 10 minutes.

If your clinic uses the vacuum applicator, you may experience some tugging, pulling, or soft pinching. Many practices have multiple machines that allow them to treat multiple areas in one visit.

The most common areas that CoolSculpting treats are the abdomen, waist, back, outer and inner thighs, and upper arms.

After the CoolSculpting Procedure Is Over

After the procedure, you may experience some skin sensitivity. This normally includes temporary skin redness or lightening, swelling, bruising, tenderness, cramping, or itching. These subside within 3 to 7 days, and you’ll notice a 20-25% reduction of fat in the treated areas.

This procedure is completely nonsurgical and noninvasive, so you can go right back to whatever you were doing in your normal daytime routine.
