Questions to Ask Before Getting a Mommy Makeover

January 6, 2017

We all have those days where we don’t feel confident in the way that we look. This feeling is especially present with women who have not fully lost baby weight from their pregnancies. For women, our bodies are always changing. After pregnancy, many women find that they don’t look or feel like themselves anymore. Stretched out skin and muscles, breasts that sag or lose volume, and pockets of fat that weren’t there before can put a real damper on your confidence.

Mom’s wear many different hats. Some work, all while caring for children, volunteering, and honoring other obligations struggling to find time for themselves in their schedule each day. The decision to have a mommy makeover is one that requires a lot of time and thought, but the results can be dramatic and amazing, and do wonders for your self-esteem.

Many mom’s struggle with this problem to lose the weight they gain after having a baby, and let’s face it, eating totally right and getting to the gym with a little one in tow just doesn’t happen regularly. This coupled with lack of sleep which also promotes weight gain, can mean a real challenge for some. Some studies show that it can take, at minimum, the length of a full-term pregnancy to get a new mom’s body back to its pre-pregnancy size and shape. How about restoring your figure with the Mommy-Makeover?

What does getting a Mommy-Makeover mean?

The mommy makeover is a combination of procedures designed to restore various parts of the body, particularly after pregnancy. It commonly includes a tummy tuck (to tighten abdominal muscles, and remove loose skin and fat in the abdomen) and breast augmentation (boob job) or a breast lift (to address breasts that have deflated or sagged). Liposuction may also be performed to help with body contouring.

The Mommy Makeover procedure is not a one-size-fits-all treatment.” In fact, it can consist of a variety of plastic surgery procedures chosen by a female patient in conjunction with her plastic surgeon to restore her physique and appearance to its pre-pregnancy state. Typically, a body procedure (such as a tummy tuck) is combined with a breast procedure (such as a breast lift or a breast augmentation) as part of a Mommy Makeover. There are important questions that should be asked in the consultation with your doctor before undergoing your procedure.

Questions to Ask:

1. Am I a good candiadate for a Makeover?

2. Are you board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery? What societies do you belong to?

3. Do you have plastic surgery privileges at a well-respected local hospital?

4. May I see before and after photos?

5. May I talk to your previous patients about the surgery?

6. Where will my procedure be performed?

7. Are the facilities you use nationally accredited?

8. Do you use board certified MD anaesthesiologists?

9. Are you easy to get a hold of after surgery if I have questions or concerns?

10. Will I see you during every visit?

11. Where do you get most of your patients from?

12. How many mommy makeovers do you do?

If you think you may be a candidate for a mommy makeover call the office of Dr. Stelnicki at (954 )983-1899 to request a consultation.
