The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported in its annual plastic surgery procedural statistics that 15.6 million cosmetic procedures, including both minimally-invasive and major procedures, were performed in the United States in 2014.
The cosmetic surgery industry is booming, as people in the United States spend billions of dollars a year on cosmetic procedures, from breast augmentation, facelifts and liposuction, to butt implants, Botox injections, and more.
While we think of some of those more popular procedures that were performed across the United States, there are plenty of different procedures that you might not even know about. For example, did you know that you can get permanent make-up, such as eye-liner? From the most life-changing and drastic procedures to the slightest of alterations, each person has a different idea about what they would like done.
Here are a few of the lesser known cosmetic procedures that you can have done:
1. Eyebrow Transplant: For people who are sick of plucking, waxing, or filling in their eyebrows with makeup, an eyebrow transplant may be the answer. This is more of a permanent solution, where hair from another place on your body (donor site) is used and transplanted to the eyebrow, for thicker fuller eyebrows. This procedure is in some ways similar to a hair transplant
2. Dimpleplasty: A dimpleplasty is exactly what the name suggests. The plastic surgeon can make dimples on your cheeks or chin. This is a 30-minute procedure done under anesthesia.
3. Vampire Facelift: During this procedure, the plastic surgeon performs Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) by drawing your own blood, and injects it back into your face to remove or reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The platelets help boost your immune system and promotes healing for your skin.
It just goes to show, that if you are thinking of something about your body that you might like to change, a board-certified plastic surgeon may be able to find just the right procedure for you.
