There are many reasons you may consider cosmetic surgery for your breasts. The size and shape of your breasts can change greatly as you age, gain or lose weight, or after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Breasts that are firm, full, and perky can be a huge boost to your self-image and help you look and feel fantastic. Find out if a breast lift with breast augmentation is right for you.
Sagging breasts
Gravity is relentless. The shape of your breasts changes over time, with breast tissue being redistributed lower in the breast. The nipples will also move lower and point down as the skin stretches. If your breasts are sagging, a breast lift will create a perky, youthful profile. Nipples are repositioned to point up.
Size and symmetry
Breast augmentation involves the insertion of an implant filled with saline or silicone gel. The implant increases the size of the breast and changes its shape. Augmentation with implants can create a symmetrical appearance if one breast is larger than the other, as is the case with most women.
Breast lift
Augmentation alone does not correct sagging or nipple position. In a breast lift (or mastopexy), the surgeon makes an incision and changes the position and distribution of breast tissue. Excess skin is also removed. Recontoured breasts are be higher and firmer.
Augmentation alone may not achieve the results you desire. Implants will not change the amount of skin or general texture of the breast. Age is an important factor when deciding on a cosmetic procedure, as well as your body’s personal experiences (like motherhood!).
